Lovely 🙂 And of course the Scots are more in tune with French food as my very Scottish auntie insisted that French cuisine, through Mary Queen of Scots, had had a huge influence on Scots cooking.
We were invited by English, just before Christmas, and I went into a slight state of shock to be offered pudding before the cheese (cheese comes before sweet in Italy too) and it’s a completely vile arrangement. Of course this comes from Victorian times, when the ladies would withdraw and the men would stay in the dining room with a good Stilton, a bottle of Port and cigars.
Happy 2016! And I always look forward with pleasure to your posts.
Ha, I never thought of that. but it makes perfect sense to have pudding first if the men retire with the cheese and port. Mean things though, poor victorian woman missing out on all that lovely cheese. Happy 2016 to you too with many more wonderful painting oportunities. I’m looking forward to you next one.
